In 2026 Friends of Polish will offer the Mitchell Scholarship. Lillian and Chester Mitchell were long-time members of this organization and residents of Redford, MI. Chester was a were pharmacist who had been active in the Polish Community.
There are three scholarships available, each valued at $2,000. These scholarships will be awarded annually to support academic studies in fields such as law, medicine, architecture, engineering, sciences, and the liberal arts, excluding the fine arts. All awards will be payable to the recipients.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Applicant must be a U. S. Citizen and a resident of the State of Michigan.
- Applicant must be of Polish ancestry and/or a connection to the Polish Community.
- Applicant must be currently enrolled in a minimum of six(6) credit hours per semester in a college or university in pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Master degree or a matriculated High School senior who will graduate in the year the application is submitted.
- Applicant may apply for only one of the scholarships (Mitchell orMitchell Fine Arts. The Mitchell Scholarship replaces the Frank Filipek Scholarship beginning in 2026. Past recipients of the Frank Filipek scholarship are not eligible for the Mitchell Scholarship).
